Spore strips for ethylene oxide sterilization processes consist of bacteria spores inoculated on filter paper strips of 6 x 38 mm and packaged in glassine envelopes. They are inoculated with B. atrophaeus (# 9372) 10^6 CFU/carrier according to EN ISO 11138-1 + 2 and USP (United States Pharmacopeia). Spore strips that confirm with the European Pharmacopeia (EP) are also available.

A microbiological laboratory with sterile work bench is required to aseptically transfer the spore strips into the growth medium after sterilization.
